Colleges and Universities

The FUHS Theatre Program is designed to give students the tools they need to pursue an advanced education in the arts. 

Students are encouraged to attend college or university programs to attain advanced degrees in

  • Playwriting

  • Acting

  • Directing

  • Stage Management

  • Technical Design (Lighting, Sound, Costumes, Set)

  • Theatre Education

The summer after the junior year, Mr. Despars takes students to audition for the top theatre schools in the country at the International Thespian Festival in Lincoln, Nebraska. Students are given 90 seconds to impress college recruiters with monologues, solo musical theatre performances, or technical theatre portfolio presentations. Students are selected by colleges and universities for one-on-one interviews and secondary auditions. Many students receive scholarships and financial aid after this audition.
